Waco members getting new dan/kyu ranks in a kendo event in Houston

Some of Waco Kendo and Baylor Kendo members attended the kendo event hosted by U. Houston Kendo Club on Feb 24-25, 2024. All of them who took tests ranked up successfully. Congratulations!

Waco members together with Baylor members had good time at Houston Kendo Kyokai 10th Anniversary Tournament. Youth (up to 15, boys+girls): Yuri Hatakeyama (3rd). Open team (3 member teams): Team Baylor [Reddy, Tomes, Hatakeyama] (1st).

Some of our members took the kendo kyu exams today. All of them successfully ranked up and received new kyu ranks. Congratulations!
Seminar led by Kato sensei in Waco, Sep 30-Oct 2, 2023.

We had an honor of hosting a kendo seminar led by Shozo Kato sensei, 8th dan, kyoshi in Waco, September 30 - October 2, 2023. We had about 80 participants from all over Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Indiana, and we learned a lot through the seminar.

We were very excited to have our first practice at the new-renovated Doris Miller community center. We thank City of Waco, Parks and Recreation, for their support of our program.

June 30 - July 2, 2023
Some of the Waco Kendo members participated in the 15th AUSKF national Championships held in Rochester, MI. They showed good matches and great spirits. We will work harder to prepare for the next nationals to be held three years from now.

We hosted the SUSKIF Fall Taikai and Shinsa in Waco on November 5th. We would like to thank all the participants for coming to Waco, and we also would like to thank everybody who helped running the shinsa and taikai.
